Kanpur, being the largest city of Uttar Pradesh state, is situated on the bank of the River Ganga, and is considered to be an agricultural and industrial center. and a botanical garden, and must be visited during the trip to Kanpur. Also known as the Kanpur Zoo began its functioning in 1971 and ranks among the best zoos in the country. It is an ideal place for outdoor life and picnics amongst picturesque surroundings.

Kamala Retreat, lies in the vicinity of the most popular Allen Forest Zoo, is owned by the Singhania family. This is a resort best suited for family gatherings, outdoor activities and picnics, besides; it also houses a museum displaying a wide range of historical and archaeological artifacts. Those interested in visiting, must do so with prior permission from the Deputy General Manager, Kamla Tower, Kanpur.
Jajmau, was earlier known as Siddhapuri. Being an important excavation site, the mound has revealed numerous antiquities that belong to the periods between 600 BC and AD 1600. At present, one can find
the temples of Siddhnath and Siddha Devi, the mausoleum of Makhdum Shah Ala-ul-Haq - a famous Sufi saint - and a mosque built by Kulich Khan in 1679.
Nana Rao Park, the oldest and biggest park in Kanpur of Uttar Pradesh, is located on the Mall Road, west of Phool Bagh. Earlier, it was known as Memorial Well Garden, and then was named after Nana Rao Peshwa, one of the prominent leaders of the first war of independence in 1857. It is this site, where the tragic incident of bibighar massacre of Kanpur took place.
